Xtreme Clayz Pro Team - Member Spotlight - David Alexander

David Alexander is currently a college student at NCTC in Denton, Texas.  He started shooting at the age of 6, shooting still targets in his backyard with a BB gun. David then began to pursue hunting, and often went dove hunting with his dad and brother.  Three years ago, he was introduced to the clay target sports and started shooting skeet at a club in North Dallas (Backwoods TRAPS). He was a little bored with skeet, and decided to try out sporting clays.  When he started shooting NSCA tournaments in 2004, he moved up in class very rapidly.  He made it to Master class in 10 months. David has only taken one "official" lesson, however, credits several shooters that helped him along, including his dad, David G. Alexander, Charley Close, Andy Duffy and David Niederer.

David earned a position on the 2006 1st Team Junior All American squad!  Other major accomplishments include 2006 Texas State Compaq M5, 2006 Fiocchi Cup M1, 2005 Texas All State Team, 2005 Angle Port Open M5, JR Runner Up and 5-Stand JR Runner Up, and 2005 Junior Nationals Prelim M3, JR Runner Up.

David's Shooting Tips:  "Don’t ever think negative; this is almost a sure failure. Don’t get mad at yourself. If you don’t have a good day then just let it go and you will probably shoot better next time. Always watch the target carefully because they are not always the exact same."

"Charley - I've had another day to let your game soak in on me, and I can't remember when I've had so much fun shooting. I always practice shooting stuff backwards, my buddies have always wondered what the point in doing that was, little did they know I was practicing for a more Xtreme game. You must have put a lot of thought in setting up the way Xtreme clays is played. My hat is off to you. Just neater than _hit is all I can say.  Hope you get another shoot in the making real soon.  GREAT JOB Charley - twice a month would be about right for me. Looking forward to next time."   -- S.Rackley

"Thanks Charley and Boggy Boys for a wonderful day. We had such a good time. The targets were absolutely some of the best I've seen in a long time. A great mix of different presentations and a nice use of the terrain. I didn't see a single boring shot. I would like to reshoot that rabbit though! We had a really fun team that we shot with as well. Heath, I can tell you are a "boggy boy"! Great people, really good food and a super FUN day!!! We WILL be back! Keep us on your list."  - Karen J.

3-Man Team Challenge Tournament April 22, 2006!  - Results

The mission for Xtreme Clayz is to provide quality, branded, "eye catching" merchandise (shirts, caps, gun sleeves, vests, pouches, etc.) to people that participate in the various shotgun sports.   Xtreme Clayz will also hold and promote local shotgun sports shooting events that provide unique shooting challenges in team and individual event competitions.

Xtreme Clayz was founded in 2004 by Charley Close.  I would like to thank Kenny Stringer for his ideas, input, and ongoing support as a member of the Xtreme Clayz Pro Team.  As a sporting clays (and pretty much any other shotgun sport) enthusiast (aka  "addict"), I see an opportunity to offer merchandise with a high "cool" look factor, while being functional for the shotgun sports enthusiasts.  Our product line will include shirts, hats, vests, gun sleeves and any other merchandise I feel I can talk you into buying in order to look really cool.

I will also be holding Xtreme Clayz events.  These events will initially be held in the Dallas, Texas area, with plans to go world-wide (hey, it never hurts to dream big)!   The events consist of various Individual and Team Challenge games including Xtreme Sporting Clays, Long Bird (correction...REALLY long bird), 5-stand flush, powder pigeon, bunker trap, ZZ-bird, Make-A-Break, etc.  The games are fun, and very challenging/Xtreme.

Currently, the events are by invitation only due to the limited slots available.  If you would like to be added to the Xtreme Clayz invitation list, please send an email to Charley Close.
